Who We Are

Our Mission

Moja Foundation is a US-based nonprofit. We partner with Hugs for Life Foundation in Embu, Kenya to provide financial support for the education and care of orphaned and impoverished children. In other words, Moja Foundation supplies the funding and Hugs for Life works on the ground to implement the projects.

Our Crew

Director Of Inspiration Joseph Kinyua is the Director of Hugs for Life Foundation in Embu, Kenya. He works diligently to connect with youth in need of support whether it be assisted with school fees or someone to offer words of encouragement. He is responsible for the actual implementation of projects funded by Moja Foundation. Joseph has a diploma in Hotel and Catering Management and spent several years working as a chef. However, he always knew his true calling is in community development and working with youth, so in 2014 he completed his diploma in Community Development and Social Work. He was the co-founder of Just A Hug that worked with youth in Kibera and founded Hugs for Life in 2015 to provide education and opportunity for children in Embu.

Executive Everything   Alison Mistak is the founder and Executive Director. She lives in Maryville, TN with her husband, Brett, and two children, Wyatt and Mazzy.  Alison is an all-around social worker with a Bachelor and Master of Social Work and a career history in a wide variety of settings that assist vulnerable women and children. She is also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has a practice that specializes in psychotherapy with children, teens, and postpartum women.  Alison worked with The Alliance for Youth Achievement (a nonprofit dedicated to supporting the education and care of children orphaned by AIDS in Africa and Asia) for 10 years. As a typical staff member for a small, nonprofit, Alison is a Jane-of-all-trades for the basic operations of Moja Foundation in the US.
